Obituary for Fred E. Coletti
Fred E. Coletti was born in Marseilles, France on August 5, 1933 to Joseph and Rita Coletti. He was born to eternal life on July 18, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Arlene nee Kanikula, and loving children, Laura (Bob) Weir, Ann Marie (Don) Deegan, and Paul (Jenny) Coletti. He was preceded in death by his infant son Frederic. Fred was an adored grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy: Lauren (Alex) Accurso, Andrew Deegan, Nick Deegan, Sara Weir, Vince Coletti, Isabelle Coletti, and Gianna Coletti. He is survived by sister Mary (Aldo) Marchi and preceded by sisters Benita (Pierre) Delphin, Laura (Giovanni) Cravagna, and brother Louis Coletti. He was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Fred came to America from Europe as a teenager, following very difficult times during, and after, WWII. He settled in Chicago, learned a new language and a trade, became an American citizen, and then proudly served his new country (stateside) during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Arlene, and formally began a nearly 65-year love story in 1957.

A bricklayer by trade, Fred laid brick until he was 70, well beyond retirement age out of enjoyment of his profession. He left the mark of his craft throughout the Chicago Metropolitan area and at the homes of his family. Those who worked with him knew that his standards were uncompromising; the only way to do a job was the right way.

Most notably, as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker, Fred looked for ways to help others. We will forever remember how Fred lived, intensely grateful for his family, this country, and the opportunities it afforded. He was a gentle yet passionate man who modeled love, humility, empathy, and generous service to all.

The wake will be held at Petkus Lemont Funeral Home at 12401 South Archer Avenue, Lemont, IL on Friday, July 22nd from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Family & friends will meet at Sacred Heart Parish, 8245 W. 111th. St. Palos Hills, IL on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. for Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Mausoleum of Arch Angels in Alsip, IL
