Obituary for Janet M. Stelmasek
Janet M. Stelmasek of Chicago, age 84, passed away on September 22, 2021.
She graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois as Valedictorian of the Class of 1955. She earned a degree in Psychology from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, then attended the University of Michigan where she earned her teacher credentials. Janet was employed as a social worker in Cook County and then taught 6th grade at Burnham Elementary School in Cicero, Illinois. She later was employed and retired from the Social Security Administration in Chicago.
Janet was a lifelong Cubs fan as well as an avid fan of all Chicago sport teams and made sure to attend each team's championship rallies and parades. Janet loved the City of Chicago and enjoyed walking and taking part in activities in and around her neighborhood of Streeterville where she lived for many years.
She is survived by many cousins including Kathleen Pencak, nee Stelmaszek; Brian (Vicki) Pencak, Alyssa and Ella Pencak, Karen (Norman) Vail, and Lily and Ian Vail.
Janet graciously donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for anatomical studies.
