Obituary for Michael Ronald Vavrek
Michael Ronald Vavrek 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his final hours on Sunday, February 15, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong Cicero resident, Michael graduated from St. Dionysius School and Morton East H.S. He served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. He joined the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1992. A simple man with old fashioned values, Michael enjoyed horse racing, fishing, playing cards and listening to traditional country music. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also an avid sports fan. Michael is survived by his sister Beverly (Frank) Shubert; nephews Frank (Susan) Shubert and Mark Shubert; niece Tracy (Eric) Magyar; great nephews Frank Shubert IV, Tristan and Severus Magyar; great nieces AnnMarie and Kimberley Shubert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Anne Vavrek and baby brother, Philip. Funeral Saturday, February 21st. 9:30 A.M. from Suburban Family Funeral Home 5940 W. 35th. St. (Corner of 35th.
