Obituary for Stanley Duda

Stanley "Bud" Duda, 95, formerly of Cicero, Hinsdale, Lemont, Stickney, Illinois passed away in Stevensville, Michigan on June 27, 2024


Stan was born in Cicero Illinois in 1929. He was a graduate of Morton High School and enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart Dolores Lipinski in 1950. Stan started his business All Doorcheck and Lock Service in 1953 and worked there along with his son Kirk till its closing in 2020. He was an expert locksmith with a strong reputation, safeguarding the western suburbs of Chicago and also supporting law enforcement and financial institutions. He hired and trained family and friends in the locksmithing trade and had a business logo "The only way to have a friend is to be one".


Stan will be remembered as a multitalented, creative Renaissance man. He loved building things like his homes, roads, piers on his properties. He was a prolific artist of paintings, sculptures and wood designs. Stan played classical guitar and a mean harmonica. Many will remember his patriotic 4th of July celebrations and riding with him on his motorcycle. He inspired many to enjoy the great outdoors and stay physically fit.


Stan wrote his memoir, chronicling his early years, titled "A Poor Boys Story of the Great Depression.” Hence, he never let anyone go hungry. Whoever was around him at lunchtime got a meal. He was devoted to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.


He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Arthur) Stolte; his son Kirk (Paula Hojnowski) Duda; grandchildren, Sarah Stolte and Elizabeth Stolte.


Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Duda; parents, Stanley and Anna Duda; siblings, Julian Duda, Luella Nowaczyk, Remigia Wegloski, Judy Robison, Eleanor Duda.


A memorial visitation will take place on July 16, 2024 at St. James of the Sag Church, 10600 S. Archer Ave. Lemont, Illinois at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 a.m.  


Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL
